Algorithm Organizations

These are anything related to algorithms that I think is interesting and worth paying attention to. I'm just getting started with this research so the definition of what is an organization is changing rapidly.

Algomation

Algomation is a platform for viewing, creating and sharing any type of algorithm. All algorithms on on the site are public and can be viewed and shared by any user of the site. Registered users can create new algorithms or fork existing one.

Visualizing Algorithms

Algorithms are a fascinating use case for visualization. To visualize an algorithm, we don’t merely fit data to a chart; there is no primary dataset. Instead there are logical rules that describe behavior. This may be why algorithm visualizations are so unusual, as designers experiment with novel forms to better communicate. This is reason enough to study them. But algorithms are also a reminder that visualization is more than a tool for finding patterns in data. Visualization leverages the human visual system to augment human intellect: we can use it to better understand these important abstract processes, and perhaps other things, too.

Quantopian

Quantopian is a Boston-based company that aims to create a crowd-sourced hedge fund by letting freelance quantitative analysts develop, test, and use trading algorithms to buy and sell securities.

MathWorks

The MathWorks, Inc. (branded as simply MathWorks) is an American privately held corporation that specializes in mathematical computing software. Its major products include MATLAB and Simulink. As of April 2014, it employed over 3,000 people worldwide with 70% located at the company's headquarters in Natick, Massachusetts, United States.

Algorithmia

We are building a community around state-of-the-art algorithm development. Users can create, share, and build on other algorithms and then instantly make them available as a web service.

If you think there is an API I should have listed here feel free to tweet it at me, or submit as a Github issue. Even though I do this full time, I'm still a one person show, and I miss quite a bit, and depend on my network to help me know what is going on.
